Barnes & Noble.Com Customers Can Now Use PayPal

Millions of PayPal Account Holders Can Use Their PayPal Accounts To Make Purchases at Barnes & Noble.com

NEW YORK, NY – August 16, 2006 – Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the nation's largest bookseller, announced today that Barnes & Noble.com (www.bn.com), has added PayPal as a payment method. PayPal is a global leader in online payment solutions. It allows online shoppers to enter and store credit card and billing information in one place, instead of storing and updating this information on multiple sites.

Barnes & Noble.com shoppers can now pay for purchases with their PayPal accounts, using a credit card, bank account or stored account balance. PayPal enables any individual or business with an e-mail address to send and receive payments online securely and easily. Privacy is an important part of the service.
