  • As head of global operations for eBay, Wendy Jones ensures that strategic initiatives around the world are set up for success. Wendy drives cross-functional collaboration, accountability, and results within the business – bringing organizations together to advance more effective operating models and improve execution.

Prior to PayPal's spin-off from eBay, Wendy managed the overall separation process – and now for the standalone eBay, she continues to oversee the workings of all elements within the eBay-PayPal operating agreements.

Wendy has largely built her 12-year career within eBay focusing on growth opportunities outside the United States, including her most recent position as Vice President of Geographic Expansion and Cross-Border Trade for eBay Marketplaces.

In her role leading geo-expansion and CBT, Wendy led the team responsible for developing and growing eBay's opportunities and presence in Latin America, Russia, China, and other emerging markets. Wendy's team oversaw the customer experience in these markets, partnering with product and other functional teams within eBay.

Wendy is also committed to furthering others' ambitions through personal mentoring and professional affiliations within eBay. She is a co-founder of eBay Women's Initiative Network (WIN) in Europe, which advances important topics for women within the company, and she continues to be an active leader and member of WIN in North America. In addition, Wendy serves as mentor to women within and outside eBay.

Before taking over the GEO business, Wendy held various leadership roles within eBay – in customer support, marketing, advertising, and operations, including two international assignments. During her time in Europe, she was responsible for leading marketing, operations, and advertising for eBay's European portfolio of sites.

Wendy found her job on eBay – literally – in November 2003, after seeing an on-site ad for the role of vice president of customer support. Prior to joining eBay, Wendy worked at State Street Bank, Land Rover NA, and for iSKY, Inc., in various leadership roles.

Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Loyola College. She was recently recognized with the 2015 Rolland Teel Distinguished Alumna award from Severn School. Her interests include boating, tennis, and travel.

    Wendy's favorite eBay experience:

"I grew up wanting one thing and one thing only – to be a professional tennis player and to play at Wimbledon. My first eBay purchase EVER was to attend the 2000 Men's Final, which turned out to be an epic match between Pete Sampras and Patrick Rafter, where Pete Sampras won his 7th (a record) and final Wimbledon title. I couldn't get to Wimbledon as a player, but eBay got me there."
