Integration of RedLaser and Milo Helps Last-Minute Holiday Shoppers Find Great Deals Online or In-Store
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This holiday season, eBay announces the addition of local shopping results from Milo to its popular RedLaser barcode-scanning application (www.redlaser.com), now available on both iPhone® and Android™. With the integration of Milo, shoppers on RedLaser can immediately find out, through a single scan, which nearby retailers currently have that perfect gift in-stock and who has the best local price. Holiday shoppers can scan thousands of the hottest products across the shelves of approximately 50,000 U.S. stores, saving time and money.
“RedLaser brings countless pages of shopping sites, and now the shelves of local stores, right to the palm of your hand”
“RedLaser brings countless pages of shopping sites, and now the shelves of local stores, right to the palm of your hand,” said Steve Yankovich, vice president of eBay mobile. “Now, with local results from Milo, deal hunters and last-minute shoppers can spend less time researching prices and searching stores for the perfect gift. In a single scan, shoppers can be confident that they are finding the best deal whether that’s online or at a local retailer.”
RedLaser’s popularity has quickly grown amongst savvy shoppers and it has become one of the most popular barcode scanning apps in the Apple iTunes® store, with total downloads tripling since June of this year. With interest in mobile shopping on the rise, eBay is now also bringing the RedLaser popular barcode-scanning app to millions of Android shoppers. The RedLaser app for Android, launched today, lets shoppers scan products to compare prices and find great deals both online and at retailers near them.
The integration of Milo into the RedLaser iPhone and Android applications builds on eBay’s acquisition of Milo.com last week. eBay is at the forefront of mobile shopping, and expects more than $1.5 billion worth of goods to be bought worldwide this year through its mobile apps.
eBay’s RedLaser app is available for free download in the iTunes App Store and Android Market. Milo local shopping results are available immediately in both the iPhone and Android versions and online at Milo.com. The RedLaser Software Development Kit, which is already being used by more than 100 third-party iPhone developers and select retailers, will soon be available for the Android platform.
