eBay CMO Richelle Parham and PayPal CMO Ranjana Clark Congratulate 2012 CLASSY Award Winners
By: Sebastian Rupley
On Saturday, Sept. 22, eBay Marketplaces Chief Marketing Officer Richelle Parham and PayPal Chief Marketing Officer Ranjana Clark participated in the Fourth Annual CLASSY Awards, the country’s largest philanthropic awards ceremony. In Richelle’s post below, she discusses the occasion and eBay Inc.’s commitment to nonprofits.
At the CLASSY Awards ceremony this past weekend, we gathered to celebrate the charitable achievements of nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses and innovative individuals. Both eBay and PayPal were proud to be presenting sponsors for this year’s event.
Ranjana Clark, PayPal’s SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, and I had the privilege of presenting the award for the CLASSY’s Philanthropic Business of the Year. We were thoroughly impressed with each of the finalists in this category and want to congratulate each of them for showing such unique examples of the true impact a purpose-driven company can make.
We were thrilled to be surrounded by such an inspirational group that shares eBay’s core values. We’re happy to announce that Raven + Lily, a socially responsible brand that sells gifts and accessories made by women in need, won the award for the brand’s accomplishments in empowering women through sustainable economic opportunities.
The CLASSY Awards helped me to put faces to some of the many organizations that use eBay platforms and technologies to raise the funds and the awareness they need to pursue their missions. In 2011, we helped more than 200,000 charitable organizations generate funding. In fact, these organizations received more than $3 billion through PayPal, and an additional $63 million through eBay Inc. giving programs, last year alone. And we were thrilled to see some of these organizations represented at the CLASSY Awards.
If you’re in the mood to feel inspired, I encourage you to read about all of this year’s CLASSY Award finalists and winners. Please join me in congratulating each of them for their wonderful achievements.
