eBay Holiday Collective Puts Accessories to Work
By: Cicely Wedgeworth
Why shouldn’t your accessories do double duty? eBay’s new Holiday Collective, unveiled at a press event in New York last night, features a line of limited-edition bracelets that also serve as USB chargers. Each one is customized by a top designer, making it the perfect gift for that stylish – or tech-savvy – someone on your list.
The collection is part of eBay’s continuing partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Designers Mara Hoffman, Michael Bastian, MILLY by Michelle Smith, Rachel Zoe, and Shipley & Halmos of the CFDA each gave a bracelet a touch of their signature style. Manufactured by MOHZY, the bracelets come with an adapter for iPhone 4 and 5 series that allows users to charge and transfer data from the iPhone or other devices. They are also compatible with iPods, Android smartphones and BlackBerry devices with a micro USB connector.
Each bracelet costs $25, with free shipping in the U.S. and Canada. All proceeds from the Holiday Collective benefit the CFDA Foundation, a not-for-profit company separate from the CFDA that raises funds for charitable initiatives and campaigns on behalf of the American fashion industry’s designers.
Bracelets go on sale Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. Pacific time, 11 a.m. Eastern.
