eBay Radio 9th Anniversary Party Rocks on in Vegas!
By: Sue Rosenstock
Day Two of the eBay Seller Event/Live Radio Show in Vegas got off to a super start with Bryan Goodman and Jason Smith (collectively known as “Thrifting with the Boys”), who provided tips to sellers on how to score great inventory in local thrift shops, yard sales and antique shops.
Bryan and Jason invited two attendees up on stage along with two racks of T-shirts. Each had two minutes to pick out the 5 best and 5 worst shirts using the information they learned during the session. They did pretty well!
Here are some of the tips The Boys shared:
– When you’re researching an item to sell, check for the item on watchcount.com. Not only will it tell you the number of bidders, but it will also tell you how many people are watching similar items.
– If you are selling an item that features motion, sound or moving parts, post a video on YouTube, and then embed the video in your listing.
– Keep your media antenna up. News will impact what people are searching for on eBay. So if Lady Gaga drops a new album, pretty much anything to do with her – from posters to meat-based fashion – will trend on eBay.
The next two sessions focused on building a successful eBay business. Debbie Levitt discussed how to design a great listing and build your brand on eBay. Marsha Collier followed up with suggestions on how to use social media channels to expand your brand by attracting followers and fans.
Next was a mini-Town Hall with eBay’s Seller Protection team, who answered questions about Feedback and DSRs. Following this session, Griff and Lee hosted a live eBay Radio show. Griff presented a “Know Your Numbers” segment focused on business metrics.
In addition to intensive learning, attendees enjoyed a costume contest, and Kabbage sponsored a paper airplane contest, bringing home the point that “if it ain’t fun, we ain’t doin’ it!”
