eBay invests in Shipwire
By: Richard Brewer-Hay
Shipwire announced this morning that eBay and Newell Rubbermaid have joined existing investor Meakem Becker Venture Capital in a capital investment in the leading independent provider of outsourced order fulfillment. Terms of the deal and the amount of the investment were not disclosed.
From the press release:
eBay and Newell Rubbermaid have invested in Shipwire, to give businesses the tools to lower their shipping costs and scale their businesses, so that they can be competitive in today’s e-commerce market. This funding will support the expansion of the Shipwire global warehouse network into new countries, and accelerate the enterprise feature development of the Store-Sell-Ship™ cloud logistics platform.
I haven’t covered Shipwire much in the past with the exception of a quick overview during PayPalX last year. They’re located in Palo Alto which is half-way between my house and eBay HQ so maybe a stop-in, behind-the-scenes video interview is in order. In the meantime, here are some links to more information.
