John Donahoe Talks Tech with Analysts, Media

eBay Inc. President and Chief Executive John Donahoe joined a host of Silicon Valley digerati in San Francisco Tuesday, speaking onstage at the Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet conference.
Donahoe was interviewed by Goldman Sachs analyst Heath Terry, and spoke at length about the company’s mobile technology milestones, experiments with same-day delivery, and the rapidly shifting, multichannel retail environment.
“We are at a massive inflection point [with the payments and retail businesses],” he told the crowd, as reported by MarketWatch.
The appearance tops off a busy week for Donahoe. The executive is currently featured in a Fortune magazine cover story titled “eBay is Back!” and also recently explained eBay’s growth and mobile strategy to Bloomberg West, noting that the company continues to be “the best place for small businesses to get direct access to consumers all over the world. What has evolved in the last couple of years is that larger retailers are embracing PayPal and listing on eBay…What we can offer is to be a technology partner to those large, medium and small retailers to help them compete. Because we’re not a retailer ourselves, we will never compete with them.
