The Recommerce Revolution: Consumption That’s Better for Our Planet and Our Wallets
By: Lori Duvall
At eBay Inc., we’re focused on driving the future of commerce. Since our founding, we’ve understood our capacity to build a greener future for our industry and society more generally, and help usher in the technology-enabled “collaborative consumption” movement that is taking off today. And we’re only just getting started. Our commitment to a more sustainable and responsible commerce future is stronger than ever, and we’re working across eBay Inc.’s portfolio of businesses to continue to improve how people shop: their relationship with products, and the way they find, purchase, own, pass on or eventually dispose of them.
On eBay’s new Social Innovation web site, which launched last month, we unveiled data highlighting the positive global impact we enable around the world by extending the useful life of products and creating innovative programs and platforms for redistribution. As you can see from the infographic below, whether auto parts, text books or golf clubs, we’re providing opportunities for more responsible consumption and reshaping commerce through our platforms – eBay Marketplaces, the eBay Classifieds Group and Half.com. Additionally, we’re working with like-minded organizations such as the PGA Trade-in Network and Patagonia to advance our collective goals in driving greener, more collaborative and more sustainable forms of commerce.
Thanks to our partners at Collaborative Consumption who helped us design and share this infographic.
