Simplified, tailored eBay experience to bring global selection, personalized experience to Russian shoppers

APRIL 3, 2013 – SAN JOSE, CALIF. – eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace and a leading destination for fashion and mobile e-commerce, recently launched eBay.com in Russia, a new version of the eBay experience that will add Russian language capabilities and bring eBay’s breadth of inventory from around the world to Russian shoppers. To mark the launch, eBay will also premiere its first-ever TV advertising campaign in Russia.

eBay.com in Russia enables Russian consumers to “shop the world” by surfacing relevant inventory that will ship to Russian consumers from eBay sites globally. Shoppers will see promotions and deals specific to them, as well as the new eBay “feed,” a personalized way to browse items, brands and trends of interest. Russian shoppers will be able to search in Russian or English, and complete payments using PayPal, which has also been translated for Russian buyers.

“eBay.com in Russia offers Russian consumers greater access to items and inventory from around the world, at competitive prices, with full Russian language functionality in several key areas like categories, search and seller descriptions,” said Vladimir Dolgov, general manager of eBay in Russia. “We believe this launch shows the market that eBay Inc is placing a renewed emphasis on Russia and working to provide seamless, integrated experiences relevant to Russian speakers.”

eBay’s advertising campaign will target major cities and regions such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, N.Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Samara and Kazan and more, particularly those that find eBay to provide vital access to international goods. The ad will run on major TV channels beginning April 8, 2013. Click here to view the TV ad.

Dolgov added, “Our first Russian TV commercial marks a significant step for eBay with large scale promotion of our brand. The campaign aims to show very simply that ‘If you can buy it, you can buy it on eBay,’ and how Russians can easily shop the world.”

The launch of eBay.com in Russia complements eBay’s activities there in 2012. Last year, eBay launched an English-language version of eBay.com for Russia and the eBay Moda fashion app, one of the most downloaded apps in the Russian iTunes store. In 2012, Russian consumers bought more than $400 million of goods on eBay, and eBay’s active users in Russia grew more than 75%.
