During the economic crisis in Greece, selling on eBay helped Stelios Anapolitakis’s family business not only to survive, but to grow and sell to people all over the world.
“eBay opened my horizons and gave me a chance to become a global dealer of moto accessories.” - Stelios Anapolitakis
When Stelios Anapolitakis first sold motorcycle spare parts on eBay for the first time, he would never have imagined that in a few short years half of his revenue would come from his eBay store. His family bike accessories shop was founded in Athens in 1981 by his father. When Stelios joined the family business, it was growing slowly but their collection of rare bike accessories was occupying more and more space in the warehouse.
In 2009, Greece faced an acute economic crisis, causing thousands of people to lose their jobs. His shop’s sales quickly dropped and his warehouse was full of rare bike accessories. Stelios tried selling on eBay and was surprised at how quickly the spare bike parts sold to people from as far away as Japan. Working with motorbikes was Stelios’ childhood dream. With some help from eBay his shop has not only survived the financial crisis, but keeps growing every year.
