eBay has announced a new program, “The Road Home,” in collaboration with West Coast Customs and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) to honor US service members ahead of Veterans Day. Through the program, four veterans who have overcome unique obstacles in their lives will be surprised with custom-built vehicles, tailored by West Coast Customs to fit the personality and interests of the individual veteran. The base vehicles and majority of parts for the builds were sourced entirely from eBay, with most items being purchased using the eBay Motors mobile app. “The Road Home” program will also raise funds for IAVA.

Beginning on October 16, auto fans can visit “The Road Home” site at ebay.com/TheRoadHome to learn more about the program, and enter for a chance to win a fifth vehicle by West Coast Customs, an original 2012 Chrysler 300S. Entries can be made daily by watching weekly, behind-the-scenes episodes from West Coast Customs for a promo code, creating or updating a profile on eBay Garage or by making a donation to IAVA. Additionally, West Coast Customs will dedicate an episode of Inside West Coast Customs to “The Road Home,” revealing the vehicles to three of the veterans on a special broadcast on Sunday, November 10 on FOX Sports Networks (FSN).

Members of the military and their families will also be able to access discounted offers from various partners of “The Road Home.” By verifying their military ID through TroopID, they can instantly claim these offers from Under Armour, CoffeeForLess.com, Sweet Stays for Soldiers and more.

The four custom-built vehicles include:

  • Task Force Transport – inspired by military vehicles used in service, the vehicle will feature glossy black body paint and all-black detailing to give the ride a fearsome look – perfect for inspiring fear in the recipient’s paintball opponents.
  • 1960s Chevy Suburban Hot Rod – taking the veteran’s need for a family car into account, the team overhauled a classic late 1960s Suburban to give it a rat racer-inspired look, and personal touches including a pop-up table for his children.
  • 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible – the design of this vehicle was inspired by the veteran’s “spitfire” personality, and her love of the Kentucky Wildcats, including a royal blue paint job to match her favorite team’s signature colors.
  • 1968 Camaro – the West Coast Customs team honored the recipient’s love of classic cars by maintaining the Camaro’s iconic style, simply enhancing the muscle car’s sleek lines.

“We are honored to work with West Coast Customs and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America to thank these four very deserving service members and car fans in a personal way, with custom-built vehicles tailored specifically for them,” said Steve Yankovich, vice president of innovation and new ventures at eBay. “The IAVA’s involvement in this program helps us to extend the reach of this program beyond the four veterans being honored to recognize and support servicemen and women around the country.”
