Restomod completed by a team of celebrity car builders; 100 percent of proceeds to benefit the juvenile diabetes research foundation.

Leading up to National Diabetes Month in November, eBay Motors opens bidding today on a modern rebuild of a classic 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) through eBay for Charity.

The starting bid price is $1,967, and all bidders must pre-qualify at ebay.com/motorsontheroad. The charity auction starts today at 1:10 p.m. PT and runs through November 2 at 1:10 p.m. PT. To celebrate the final sale, a countdown will take place at the Ford Out Front area at SEMA (3150 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV). Attendees can also tune in via eBay’s Facebook Live at 2:00p.m. PT on November 2.

"We’re thrilled to auction this one-of-a-kind 1967 Mustang for charity, giving auto enthusiasts a chance to acquire a very cool custom ride, while giving back and supporting this worthy cause," said, Todd Madeiros, Vice President of eBay Motors. "We sell three parts or accessories every second on eBay Motors. This restomod is a great example of how our extensive inventory can make any vision a reality. Seeing the project end with a charitable auction with all proceeds going to JDRF - in partnership with Ford Motor Company - is the perfect conclusion to our ‘On the Road’ tour and an important recognition of National Diabetes Month.”

Beginning in May, eBay partnered with TV host and racing analyst Rutledge Wood, automotive artist K.C. Mathieu, and gearhead Mike Finnegan of YouTube’s Roadkill to transform the 1967 Mustang, using parts and accessories sourced from eBay Motors. After teasing the progress all summer long, the team will display the finished Mustang – nicknamed “Red, White and Rowdy” and boasting more than $140,000 in upgrades – at its final ‘On the Road’ appearance at SEMA (Oct. 31 – Nov. 3).

“We couldn’t imagine a better way to reveal this labor of love than by unveiling it at SEMA," said Rutledge Wood. "The commitment and expertise it took to fully rebuild this car from the ground up won’t be lost on the crowd. This months-long project showed just how powerful of a resource eBay Motors is. It’s truly a one-stop shop for anything auto."

More information on the car listing can be found at ebay.com/motorsontheroad. Fans can look back on the Mustang's evolution on the eBay Motors blog, which includes behind-the-scenes footage and updates from the restomod’s “On the Road” team.
