eBay Inc. Staff

Editors' note: eBay Marketplaces President Devin Wenig made the following announcement on Thursday, Oct. 17.

It’s no secret that technology is changing the way consumers shop, and eBay is in a unique position to take advantage of the commerce revolution. Our global, multiscreen platforms allow us to blend online and offline shopping, and bring together the best of what people need from their shopping experience with what they love about shopping.

To accelerate our commerce strategy, I’m excited to announce that RJ Pittman will be joining our Marketplaces business as Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Senior Vice President. In this newly created position, RJ will lead our Product organization and be responsible for creating world-class, end-to-end product experiences for more than 124 million active users and 25 million sellers.

RJ comes to eBay from Apple, where he led the company’s worldwide ecommerce platform for the Apple Online Stores and was responsible for design, product management and commerce innovation. He also led an international expansion team responsible for developing commerce opportunities in 38 countries. Before Apple, RJ was a leader in the product management group at Google and responsible for a variety of consumer search and other product initiatives.  His broad experience will help in our ongoing efforts to build innovative, relevant and engaging experiences for our customers.

As head of the department, RJ will oversee all facets of Global Product for eBay Marketplaces. eBay Inc. Chief Technology Officer Mark Carges will continue to lead our Technology team at eBay. These changes represent an important step on our journey to becoming the global leader in commerce.  I’m confident RJ’s experience and leadership will help us continue to better serve our customers through amazing experiences – large or small, global or local, online or offline.  And he will help us in our goal to ensure eBay is the best way to shop for the things you need and love anytime, anywhere and on any device.
