eBay News Team

Shoppers can purchase both the collectible and print onsite at New York Comic Con beginning October 4 and online on October 7 as part of eBay’s #Artober celebration.

Simone Legno, artist and co-founder of lifestyle brand tokidoki, is partnering with eBay to bring shoppers two new works available exclusively via the online marketplace. Starting today at eBay’s New York Comic Con booth (#126), art enthusiasts can purchase the print, entitled Chinatown, and the unicorno art collectible, Stellina, for $85 and $40 respectively, with each piece being available more broadly at ebay.com/tokidoki on Monday, October 7. One-hundred editions of the print and 500 collectibles will be available in total. A portion of proceeds from each artwork sold will go to Children Mending Hearts.

Though he hails from Italy, Legno has a deep affinity for Japanese culture, which he captures in vivid color for the tokidoki brand. From wall prints and accessories featuring cute characters, to apparel bearing renditions of stylishly tattooed women, the distinctive, street-art quality of his work has garnered a cult following. So much so, in fact, that Legno has established multiple collaborations with global brands including Sephora, Marvel, and the Guggenheim Museum.

“I’m so excited to finally unveil these two new works, alongside eBay and Children Mending Hearts,” said Legno. “It’s always a matter of finding the right time to bring new art to life. Knowing it will reach millions of enthusiasts on eBay and all to benefit a good cause, made me certain it was the right moment.

“This #Artober, eBay is hosting a collection of artwork that’s as vibrant as its shopper community; this is doubly true for Simone Legno and tokidoki, whose designs are so distinctive and colorful,” said Sam Bright, Vice President of Merchandising at eBay. “The two pieces exclusively available on eBay will be coveted by novice and seasoned collectors alike.”

Proceeds from each sale will support Children Mending Hearts, an organization whose mission is to empower children around the world to be compassionate global citizens through art, creativity and connection. Initiatives include arts education classes, empathy and anti-bullying workshops, parent and teacher trainings, and after school programming.

In addition to shopping the latest releases from tokidoki, attendees at New York Comic Con can visit eBay’s booth to see a sneak peak of screen-used props and hero items from the hit TV series Preacher, in anticipation of VIP Fan Auction’s upcoming sale on the marketplace from October 25-December 20.

eBay’s #Artober campaign honors and spotlights art and its many contributions to culture. To celebrate the moment, eBay is collaborating with several artists and non-profit arts organizations alongside Simone Legno, tokidoki and Children Mending Hearts, including Hank Willis Thomas and the Public Art Fund, Yoshitomo Nara for Dallas Contemporary, and Carlos Rolón for Project Backboard, to feature exclusive releases and sales. Further, the eBay Foundation will donate $20,000, to be distributed among each of the organizations.

Shoppers and art enthusiasts can visit ebay.com/artober to learn more about the #Artober campaign, and follow eBay at @eBay on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for news on the latest art drops.
