The highly anticipated new Marvel Legacy comic book series is kicking off on 9/27 with the release of Marvel Legacy #1. Written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Esad Ribic, the series sets the stage for the return of many classic Marvel characters including the Hulk.

Michael Breakfield, a My Comic Shop employee, proposed the Hulk-central concept that was used for the eBay variant cover, noting “Back in 1986, Marvel celebrated its 25th Anniversary with special covers. To this day, I love those covers as they are highly collectible and bring back great memories for me. As we heard about this new Marvel Legacy #1 that is set to be released, I thought, what is more iconic and part of Marvel Legacy than a classic transformation of Bruce Banner into the mighty Hulk?”
The Marvel team loved the cover idea and, in collaboration with eBay, brought the concept to life with renowned comic book illustrator Mike McKone. The final cover celebrates both the Hulk and the iconic characters who contributed to his legacy throughout the decades and, the back includes a uniquely branded eBay cover.
This special variant edition will be available on eBay for $9.99; but, for a limited time beginning on Wednesday, 9/27 at 8am PST it will cost $5.99 with free shipping via eBay’s Daily Deals. Available while supplies last—only 12,000 copies are being sold.
Plot details of the upcoming series remains a mystery, but Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief, Axel Alonso, has hinted at what’s to come— “Let’s just say that if we were thinking about having Bruce Banner, the Incredible Hulk, return sometime in the near-future, Marvel Legacy #1 would be the perfect place to provide clues where that would happen.”
Currently, there are over 30,000 live listings for Hulk-related items on eBay. The most popular Hulk item sold on eBay since 2015 is LEGO Super Heroes Avengers Minifigure Series set, which has sold over 1,300 times.*
