Fifty Designers from the Row to Rodarte Customize Totes to Support eBay & The CFDA Anti-Counterfeiting Campaign; Collection Available Exclusively on eBay Fashion Vault
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace and a leading U.S. destination for fashion, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), launch YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION, a bold, new campaign to raise awareness against counterfeit goods and celebrate original design. eBay and the CFDA have collaborated to produce a collection of original canvas tote bags bearing the tagline YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION to spark conversation around these important issues. The collection, which includes totes customized by 50 designers, is available starting today, July 11, exclusively at eBay Fashion Vault.
“We hope broader awareness will help fight counterfeits and the harm they cause, and eBay is proud to partner with CFDA on this thought-provoking campaign”
“Counterfeits are a critical issue to CFDA, eBay and the fashion industry at large,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA Executive Director. “We’re excited to collaborate on this important campaign to educate consumers on the dangers of counterfeits and emphasize the importance of original design.”
Fifty CFDA designers – including CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Billy Reid, Tory Burch, Jason Wu, Marchesa, Rodarte and The Row – each customized a one-of-a-kind tote. This collection is now on sale exclusively at eBay Fashion Vault at fixed, Buy It Now prices. The customized totes retail for $150.00 and the standard totes retail for $35.00, with all proceeds benefiting the CFDA Foundation, Inc.
“We hope broader awareness will help fight counterfeits and the harm they cause, and eBay is proud to partner with CFDA on this thought-provoking campaign,” said Alan Marks, eBay’s Senior Vice President of Global Communications. “Counterfeits not only are illegal, they also damage brand owners, frustrate shoppers and undermine consumer confidence. eBay invests substantial resources to help provide millions of consumers a trusted, confident marketplace experience when shopping for authentic new, used and vintage merchandise, and this campaign is another example of our commitment to being a leading industry voice in the fight against counterfeits.”
Both the CFDA and eBay have worked hard for this cause and continue to do so. eBay is committed to providing a safe, secure online shopping experience to millions of people globally, and plays an industry leading role in partnering with law enforcement and brand owners to combat the sale of counterfeits. eBay’s extensive anti-counterfeit measures, including the Verified Rights Owner Program (VeRO), remain second to none in combating the sale of improper items. The free eBay Buyer Protection plan provides customers access to dedicated support specialists seven days a week, as well as a money back offer, for most eBay.com purchases, should a problem arise and the seller is unable to resolve the issue.
The collaboration between the CFDA and eBay marks another milestone for eBay in the fashion category. eBay provides innovative ways to shop an incredible selection of new and authentic fashion at a great value, ranging from major designer brands to luxury labels and emerging young talent. In addition to its diverse seller community, eBay works directly with brands and retailers to bring authentic merchandise to the marketplace through exclusive collections from designers like Narcisco Rodriguez, Derek Lam and Alexander Wang. At the same time, platforms like eBay Fashion Vault serve as eBay’s exclusive fashion events destination that gives shoppers “Buy It Now” instant access each week to new, direct-from-brand merchandise for a limited time.
