Up & Running With eBay: How We’re Helping Small Business

eBay News Team

eBay releases new short film that celebrates small businesses everywhere and announces enhancements to the accelerator programs for current and future sellers.

Earlier this month, eBay developed “Up & Running,” an accelerator program specifically designed to help Main Street retailers without an e-commerce presence transition to selling online - pledging up to $100 million in support for small businesses across North America. Since launch, there has been a remarkable 55% increase in our business registration numbers[1]. While this response is strong, we know there is more to be done to fast track the success of businesses that could use a boost right now.

“Up & Running” with eBay

Today, we are launching a short film on our social channels to help spread the word about the support eBay is offering new and existing sellers. The film, created from footage of real eBay sellers, is a tribute to small business owners everywhere who pour their hearts into their work, day in and day out. While the challenges facing the small business community can sometimes feel insurmountable, eBay can help power you by providing the eCommerce tools, resources and mentorship needed to survive and thrive online, where buyers are moving their purchases at a significant rate.

“For the last 25 years, eBay has helped launch and grow hundreds of thousands of small businesses, and we continue to try to accelerate the start-up time frame for those retailers opening online stores for the first time,” said Jordan Sweetnam, SVP eBay North America. “eBay was built on the simple premise that connecting buyers and sellers around the world creates economic opportunity, and this is exactly what we need to be doing, especially now.”

Critical support for our community

Over the past several weeks, we’ve taken steps to implement support and relief for our sellers, from deferred payments to seller protections. The new accelerator program also gives new sellers a free basic eBay store for three months, and waives selling fees[2] for these new businesses, allowing them to sell up to 500 items for free. Today, we’ve extended and enhanced many of these offers. See below for additional details.

Incremental free listings through July

First announced in March, our listing promotion has been incredibly popular and we will therefore continue this through the end of July. Your listings can remain live, and you are encouraged to add more where possible.

●      50,000 additional, free fixed price listings per a month for store sellers[3]

    • To get started, learn more here.

●      200 additional, free listings per a month for non-store sellers[4]

Your success is our success, and we want to help keep you listing and selling on eBay.

Sell, Donate, Do Good - Matching Program
