eBay appoints American Express VP Marketing to CMO position

Press Release

28 March, 2018—Today eBay.com.au, Australia’s largest online marketplace, announced the appointment of Julie Nestor to Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

Julie has more than 20 years of marketing experience in Australia and Hong Kong and in her role as CMO, will drive results through an increased focus on loyalty, personalisation and partnerships.

eBay Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Tim MacKinnon said the hire was a strategic move for the online marketplace which has had a presence in Australia for 18 years.

“We’re excited to welcome Julie to eBay,” said MacKinnon.

“Julie brings a wealth of experience in consumer marketing, loyalty, payments and in partnering with Australian retailers.”

In her previous role as Vice President of Consumer Marketing, American Express, Nestor was responsible for major projects including leading digital capability development, spearheading the company’s move to bring digital wallets to Australia, designing card loyalty programs and delivering brand and experience through customer communications and performance marketing.

Nestor is looking forward to a new challenge.

“My role at American Express has given me an understanding of data, online and what merchants need to grow their sales,” Nestor said.

“Retail, especially online, is in an extremely dynamic period and I’m looking forward to working closely with the eBay leadership team to help 40,000 Australian retailers to grow their businesses.”

“There’s never been a more exciting time in Australian retail for businesses and consumers alike,” added MacKinnon.

“For over 18 years, eBay has been focused on providing the 40,000 local businesses and 11.8-million monthly Australian shoppers on the platform with the best experience possible. Under Julie’s leadership, we can expect to see eBay.com.au continue to grow and innovate.”
