eBay.co.uk has revealed Apple addicts are flocking to the site to sell their last season iPad2 in order to offset the cost of upgrading to the new iPad3. The instant recycling trend is easing the blow to pockets of those caught in the technology bubble, with the average selling price of the iPad2 sitting at a strong £283  – just £100 less than the starting retail value of the new iPad3. In the last two weeks alone, there have been over 16,000 listings of new, used and refurbished iPad2 tablets on the website.

Ahead of the hotly anticipated iPad3 launch, eBay.co.uk also reveals that tablet and eReader sales increased fourfold (443%) between January and December last year, with over 61,000 devices sold in December 2011 alone.

Judging by previous trends, the tablet sales will only continue to grow; immediately after the launch of the iPad2 between February and March 2011, sales on eBay UK spiked with almost 5,000 more tablets and eReaders sold in March than the previous month.
