eBay Appoints New UK Senior Marketing Director

eBay announces that Gareth Jones will lead its UK marketing function, joining the UK Leadership Team as Senior Marketing Director.

Jones joins eBay from Compare the Market where he was Director of Marketing Strategy, Planning and Performance. At the comparison website, he developed the company’s marketing plans and roadmap, including the Meerkat brand activity and the launch of Meerkat Movies.

Jones brings over 20 years of marketing experience with him to eBay from brands including Carphone Warehouse, where he headed up digital and online marketing.  He has also held roles in traditional advertising, TV, media and commercial management across Capital One, T-Mobile, Royal Mail and Rolls Royce.

His role will be pivotal to inspiring and engaging customers as eBay prepares for the important Christmas trading period.

Tanya Lawler, vice president of eBay in the UK, said: “Gareth is a best in class marketer with a proven track record of developing strategies which flow across customer touch points and key platforms.  Gareth will play the lead in creating and delivering seasonally relevant, targeted marketing campaigns to the 18 million Brits who visit eBay.co.uk each month.”
