Hold on to your Flat Caps – Peaky Blinders is back and eBay reveals shoppers are already going crazy for the Shelby Look

Press Release

As the Shelby family returns to our screens with the fourth season of Peaky Blinders, eBay has revealed that the boys are bringing back the 1920’s fashion craze with them.

The online marketplace has unveiled that the gangster drama has once again spawned the revival of the flat cap, with searches for the item tripling in volume since the launch of the season’s teaser trailer alone. Over 20% of people looking for Tommy Shelby inspired hats were women, as the item has emerged as the key accessory for AW17 for both men and women.

Although the flat cap is the most iconic must-have item from the show, eBay has noticed Peaky fans obsession with the 1920s style doesn’t stop there. During series three, the site saw searches for overcoats double, a 135% increase in searches for three piece suits and the sales of pocket watches rocketing by 350%.

The online marketplace also revealed how Tommy and his roguish brothers are not the only trend setters of the show. The last series saw a 55% rise in the number of people searching for flapper dresses inspired by the Shelby women.

Just as fans are throwing it back with their wardrobe in light of the 1920s drama, eBay has revealed that the way millennials are choosing to catch up on previous series has changed. According to eBay’s Guide to Physical Media, 52% of Brits prefer to buy DVDs rather than catch up over digital media. Since the launch of the trailer for season four, eBay has seen 18 times the amount of searches for The Peaky Blinders box set as newbies have been binge watching the previous series, or fans have been re-watching each episode in anticipation of the new series.

Notes to Editors:

To satisfy the growing demand for physical media, eBay has recently launched The Entertainment Shop, a curated one-stop shop for books, film, music and games.
