I’ve had a few meetings with Danny Chang of eBay Motors over the past few months about using social media tools to communicate with our audiences – whether it be customers, investors, analysts or media. We always get excited talking about the possible uses of tools like Twitter for projects being worked on here at the company. I plan on highlighting some of the projects he and his team are working on and also intend to integrate some guest posts from them in the near future so I thought it would make sense to sit down and spend “5 Minutes with… Danny Chang.” Enjoy…

Education/Schooling: MBA in Marketing and BA in History from UCLA. Go Bruins!
Interests: New techonologies, languages, history, Bossa Nova music, drawing cars, Chinese calligraphy, traveling, college basketball and football, cars, motorcycles, high speed rail, public transit. Yes, public transit. I love metros and trains. I once went to SFO just to ride the people mover.

Most memorable eBay experience : Launching the eBay Motors Facebook app, Bling My Ride, in 2008. It was a side project that I was able to get Rob Chesney, the Motors VP, to approve and push through under the radar. It’s the most successful Facebook app released by eBay to date. That and our Motors team paintball event last year where I shot up the Parts & Accessories team.
Most recent eBay purchase/sale: The most recent was La Mer moisturizing cream. It was for my wife. Seriously.
