Meg Whitman resigns from eBay, P&G and DreamWorks

Citing personal reasons, effective Dec. 31, Meg Whitman resigned from eBay, Procter & Gamble and DreamWorks Animation SKG – the three boards on which she served. The Wall Street Journal blog, Washington Wire, had this to say a few minutes ago.

eBay Reports Second Quarter 2008 ResultseBay founder, Pierre Omidyar and eBay CEO, John Donahoe were quoted as follows:

“Meg’s contributions to eBay have been extraordinary,” said Pierre Omidyar, eBay’s founder and chairman of the Board of Directors. “On behalf of eBay’s Board of Directors, we greatly appreciate Meg’s lasting impact and wish her much success in all of her future endeavors.”

“Meg’s vision and leadership and her passion for the eBay community have helped create economic opportunity for millions of people worldwide and enabled us to build a dynamic portfolio of leading online businesses,” said John Donahoe, eBay’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Her experience and insights will be missed, but Meg will always be a part of the eBay family, and we wish her the very best.”

Will update this post if and when I hear more.

Cheers,
Richard.
