Supporting Our Employees with Updated Leave Policies

Effective Jan. 1, 2016, eBay U.S. employees will be eligible for 12 weeks each for Parental and Family Leave, as well as enhanced Disability and Maternity Leave benefits.

Our employees make eBay great. And we care deeply about making sure they have our complete support inside and outside the office. This includes making sure they have time to take care of themselves and their families when they really need it.

This week, we announced a number of important updates to our leave policies for our U.S. team members. Effective Jan. 1, 2016, we’ll offer 12 weeks each for Parental and Family Leave, and we’ll enhance our Disability and Maternity Leave benefits.

A recent White House study points to the benefits of offering a robust Family Leave benefit. Changes in the workforce and demographics in the U.S. have made it increasingly important to provide workers with the flexibility and support they need to care for children or aging parents. We’re proud to be one of the most progressive among our peer companies on this particular benefit in the U.S.

As part of this process, we also took a closer look at our leave policies outside the U.S. and found a few countries where we could be doing better. So, we’re enhancing our benefits in these countries by providing two weeks of paid time off for new parents, if not already available.

eBay creates opportunity for people around the world. For our employees, that includes the opportunity to focus on what matters most in their lives: themselves and their families.
