BRITAIN GOES COOKIE CUTTER CRAZY AS BAKE OFF RETURNS

eBay has seen a ‘rise’ in interest in baking in recent weeks as Middle England prepared for the start of the Great British Bake Off. Anticipation is already mounting for next week’s cookie cutter challenge with over 36,354 listings for the biscuit shapers, including those shaped as newborn baby’s onesies or the space rockets which may appeal to ‘geek baker’ Jordan.

Nearly 270 cake tins are flying off the site each day with £52,000 worth sold in the last month. Sales of £16,000 worth of rolling pins showing no signs of flattening out either .

The state of Claire Goodwin’s stained pinny might also explain sales of £139,000 of aprons in the last week – though if she is keen to replace it before her appearance on the  ‘Extra Slice’, eBay has nearly 296,000 available items for her to chose from.

Meanwhile the Swiss roll failed to impress during ‘Cake Week’, it remains bottom of the baking charts on eBay too with only 44 listings compared to 1,093 for muffin tins and 17,112 for cake tins.
