eBay appoints a new VP of UK trading to develop customer strategy and drive retail brand growth

Tanya Lawler appointed as Vice President of UK Trading

eBay, the leading online marketplace, has today announced that retail industry leader, Tanya Lawler, has been appointed  as Vice President of UK Trading. This is a new role created at eBay.co.uk, with a remit to develop eBay’s customer strategy and drive growth in eBay’s retail brand business.

Lawler joins eBay from a role as Director of Digital and Cross-Channel at Sainsbury’s, having previously been Director of Direct Channels at Sainsbury’s, Group Commercial Director at Argos, and VP of Retail at Capgemini.

Lawler will be responsible for developing a customer strategy in order to continue to drive growth for eBay’s existing retail brand and business seller partners, including Superdry, Bench, House of Fraser, LK Bennett and Comet, as well as to help recruit further high street brands to the eBay marketplace.

Clare Gilmartin, VP Marketplaces UK & Rest of Europe, eBay said: “eBay is a very different business to the one that launched in the UK over ten years ago.  Most items sold on eBay are now sold new and at a fixed price, and the UK is one of eBay’s fastest growing European markets. Our strategy is to partner, but never compete, with the UK retail industry. In her new role, Tanya will help us ensure that the business and experience of shopping on eBay continues to evolve to meet the demands of the modern shopper.”

Lawler will join eBay in late Autumn, reporting in to Clare Gilmartin, with the Buyer, Enterprise Sales and Marketing functions reporting in to her.
