eBay UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Blue Rubicon as its first combined PR/PA agency to cover a corporate reputation brief for eBay in the UK.

Following a competitive pitch process, eBay decided Blue Rubicon was best able to drive its brand reputation strategy work the company started internally a year ago. The team, led by Blue Rubicon Managing Director Gordon Tempest-Hay will work alongside Vanessa Canzini, corporate PR & reputation manager for eBay UK and Alasdair McGowan, head of public affairs.

Vanessa Canzini said: "The most effective way for us to drive our brand reputation strategy is through a combined PR and PA approach and so we're thrilled to now have Blue Rubicon in place to help us do this.

"Blue Rubicon's understanding of our business and the challenges we face was second to none, which was even more impressive considering the pace of change we are bringing to the site in 2008."

Alasdair McGowan added: "We'd like to thank Bell Pottinger for their hard work over the past three years. Although we've been extremely happy with them, the political, regulatory and media environments we operate in today, mean the traditional model of having a separate PR and PA agency, is for us, no longer a sensible one."

Gordon Tempest-Hay of Blue Rubicon said: “eBay is a long coveted account for Blue Rubicon and we're delighted to have secured the UK brief for one of the world's most significant brands.

“As the flagship brand for its sector, eBay has, inevitably, faced increasing threats to its reputation. We look forward to helping eBay navigate its way successfully through these challenges."
