Harry Potter spells success for World Book Day according to eBay.co.uk


With World Book Day fever hitting schools across the country on 3rd March, eBay.co.uk has seen more than 26,000 people searching for ‘World Book Day costumes’ and ‘World Book Day fancy dress’ in the last week, with Harry Potter appearing front of mind.

The online marketplace, which has more than 120,000 listings for ‘Harry Potter’ alone , has found that when it comes to World Book Day costumes, the young wizard flies to the top, with more than 12,000 people searching for ‘Harry Potter costume’ in the last week . Sales of Harry Potter related products have also been high with 90 products selling per hour in the last three months .

Meanwhile, Alice in Wonderland, who celebrated her 150th anniversary in the UK last year and is selling more than 650 products every day , is the second most searched for character, with nearly 8,300 searches for ‘Alice in Wonderland fancy dress’ last week . While Where’s Wally makes it into third place with just over 8,100 searches over the same time period .
