Move over Kate, the Prince George effect sweeps the nation as Brits bring a touch of royalty to nurseries across the country

As Brits across the nation continue to celebrate the birth of Prince George, it appears that our future king has also inspired new and expectant parents to pamper their own precious princes and princesses, with a huge surge in sales of luxury baby items on eBay.co.uk.

In the run up to and the week following the highly anticipated birth, sales of traditional style cots almost doubled, with sales of luxury moses baskets also on the rise, this time by over 30%, since June this year. Following the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first appearance with Prince George two weeks ago, sales of luxury cream baby blankets rose by over a third.

Opting for the regal touch, Brits have been heading to eBay.co.uk to get their hands on traditional toys this summer, with sales of rocking horses up by two thirds and sales of classic wooden building block sets up by over 45% compared to this time last year.

eBay spokesman, Steven Heywood, says; “We have seen huge interest in the more traditional and regal baby products over the summer as Brits have become inspired by the birth of Prince George. Sales of rocking horses have noticeably spiked and with currently over 10,000 live listings of the traditional toy on the site, eBay.co.uk offers Brits the perfect platform to kit out their nurseries in true royal style.”
