Calling all freethinkers, entrepreneurs and purveyors of cool

eBay is on a mission to bring opportunity to all. To put our favorite local businesses on a global stage. To celebrate the unique and empower the individual. That’s why eBay Austin is proud to bring Retail Revival to our city. Because in Austin, we prize being one-of-a-kind over one of the herd. Here, Main Street sits at the intersection of culture and craft, and individuality thrives on every corner.

We are calling all freethinkers, entrepreneurs and purveyors of cool. Join the movement to elevate independent enterprise. Let’s show the world what Austin has to offer. Apply to Retail Revival today.

What Is Retail Revival?

Retail Revival provides ecommerce training, tools, and expertise designed to empower the local businesses that are the lifeblood of communities across the United States and around the world.

Initially launched in Akron, Ohio in 2018, Retail Revival has grown into a global movement extending from Lansing, Michigan all the way to Galilee, Israel. Participating businesses in these cities have now opened digital storefronts on eBay and reached hundreds of thousands of new customers around the world.

I wouldn’t be as far along as I am today if it wasn’t for Retail Revival. This really did come at a great time for me.

General eBay Benefits

In addition to the benefits uniquely offered through the Retail Revival program, eBay provides many general perks and opportunities that will help your business grow. Here are some of the things our sellers love most about eBay:

  • Massive customer base. 182M active buyers use eBay in 190 markets worldwide.

  • Global reach. 97% of eBay commercial sellers (sellers with more than $10,000 in sales annually) sell internationally.

  • Friendly marketplace. eBay’s an ally, not a competitor. Because we don’t sell any inventory directly, eBay only succeeds when our sellers succeed. We are committed to supporting and enabling our sellers every step of the way.

  • Fair transaction fees. At just 10%, eBay’s transaction fees are lower than many competitors (and some categories offer even lower final value fees).

  • Listing flexibility. While selling items auction-style is still an option, sellers can also list their items at a fixed price. In fact, 90% of items on eBay today are listed at a fixed price. This offers sellers the flexibility to sell their items in whatever way works best for them.

  • World-class infrastructure. Whether it’s our global shipping service or customized promotional tools, eBay offers solutions that meet sellers’ needs no matter where they are on their business journey.

  • Mobile friendly. The majority of American consumers now use their mobile devices to make purchases. eBay’s highly-rated app has been downloaded 476M times.

  • Opportunities to give back. Sellers can donate a percentage of their proceeds to any nonprofit registered on eBay for Charity. Since its inception in 2003, eBay for Charity has generated over $800M in donations to organizations serving communities around the world. In support of these generous contributions, eBay reduces its transaction fees by the same percentage of the donation for each eBay for Charity sale.

What’s the catch?

That’s the best part: there is no catch, cost or obligation. All we ask is that Retail Revival sellers give the program their very best shot to ensure the best possible outcomes for their businesses.

Specifically, participating sellers are asked to commit to:

  • Attend a full-day kick-off event on October 10 at our eBay Austin campus (more details to be provided closer to the date) and the November 4 Graduation Celebration

  • Consistently participate in weekly one-to-one coaching sessions for the first 4 weeks of the program

  • Attend supplementary webinars and training sessions

  • Dedicate at least 10 hours/week, on average, to maintaining, promoting and growing your eBay business (learning, listing inventory, fulfilling orders, managing customer inquiries, etc.) for the duration of the program. This can be done by the business owner directly or via a dedicated staff member.

  • Tell us what you think and what we can do to improve the program

The most successful sellers in Retail Revival and on eBay are the most active, creative and committed. Retail Revival is designed to help you succeed, but ultimately your results are in your hands.
