Shop with an Impact: The world’s most dynamic marketplace and artist Olafur Eliasson’s Little Sun project collaborate to shine light on universal access to clean energy.

Today, eBay and social business Little Sun are announcing a new partnership to bring accessible, ethical and sustainable solar solutions around the world. This April, Little Sun is launching its eBay storefront and offering shoppers a limited-edition “Earth Day Duo” bundle through May 1. Designed by world-renowned artist Olafur Eliasson, the special solar bundle includes the iconic Little Sun Original and Little Sun Diamond solar-powered lamps, for the exclusive price of $42. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Little Sun Foundation.

For each Earth Day Duo purchased, shoppers aren’t only getting a premium solar product for themselves, but also making the same product available to someone without access to electricity at a locally affordable price, where they provide a clean alternative to toxic and expensive fuel-based lighting like kerosene lamps or candles. Worldwide, more than one billion people live without access to electricity, affecting education, health and the overall well-being. By teaming up with one of the world’s largest marketplaces, Little Sun and eBay aim to raise global awareness for these issues while having local impact at the same time.

“eBay’s global community numbers are at 179 million active buyers, each of whom have the opportunity to make an impact with their buying decisions. With Little Sun, they’re making a statement that sustainability and supporting the global community are their priority,” said Sam Bright, Vice President of Merchandising at eBay. “Together with Little Sun, we’re using the power of our platform to democratize solar power and support sustainable solutions.”

“Little Sun makes solar energy accessible, offering sustainable solutions and helping those in need improve their quality of life,” said John Heller, CEO of Little Sun. “With eBay, we’re able to multiply our reach in a way that brings important solar power solutions to people in developed and emerging markets alike.”

At a time when focus on climate change is more important than ever, eBay and Little Sun are empowering everyone to make thoughtful buying choices, with the added benefit of helping communities where basic services are unreliable if available at all.
